Instructions for Authors
Guide for manuscript preparation and submission
ACS Publishing House encourages the publication of studies, research papers, and scholarly analyses dedicated to the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, art history, and interdisciplinary heritage studies. Authors interested in publishing in the publishing house’s editorial series or in the annual publication “Restoration Notebooks” (Caietele restaurării) are invited to follow the guidelines below.
Fields and Types of Contributions
ACS Publishing House accepts original manuscripts addressing topics related to cultural heritage studies, including:
conservation and restoration of cultural heritage;
studies in art history and architectural history;
interdisciplinary research applied to heritage (chemistry, physics, biology, material science);
case studies concerning conservation and restoration interventions;
theoretical and methodological analyses of restoration practices.
Contributions are typically based on case studies, research projects, or critical analyses derived from professional practice or academic research, including observations and data obtained during conservation projects or scientific investigations.
Manuscript Submission
Articles may be submitted to the editorial office at any time during the year. Manuscripts considered suitable for publication, following editorial and scientific evaluation, will be included in the next available issue of the publication or in the appropriate editorial volume.
Authors are requested to submit their manuscripts in electronic format to the contact addresses of the editorial office.
Evaluation Process
Submitted manuscripts are evaluated by the editorial team and, when necessary, by specialists in relevant fields. The evaluation process considers the relevance of the topic, the originality of the contribution, and the quality of the documentation.
Authors typically receive a response regarding the evaluation of their manuscript within approximately 30 days of submission.
Depending on the reviewers’ recommendations, the manuscript may be accepted for publication, returned for revision, or rejected.
Manuscript Structure
The manuscript should include the following elements:
title of the work;
author name(s) and institutional affiliation;
abstract (where applicable);
keywords;
main body of the text;
footnotes;
bibliography;
illustrations and captions.
Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions for the use of images and for correctly indicating their sources.
Citation and Formatting
Bibliographic references and citations should follow the editorial standards of the publication. In general:
titles of books and publications should be written in italics;
article titles should appear in quotation marks;
bibliographic references should include the author, title, place of publication, publisher, and year of publication.
Footnotes are used for bibliographic references and additional commentary and should be numbered consecutively throughout the text.
Illustrative Material
Illustrations (photographs, plans, diagrams, restoration details, etc.) must be accompanied by captions and the indication of the source. Authors are responsible for the quality of visual materials and for securing the reproduction rights where necessary.
Author Responsibilities
Authors are responsible for the originality of their work, the accuracy of the information presented, and compliance with the ethical standards of research and academic publishing.
By submitting a manuscript to ACS Publishing House, authors confirm that the work has not been previously published and that it complies with the editorial and ethical standards of the publishing house.
