Caietele restaurării 2016

Abstract

The fifth issue of Caietele Restaurării is dedicated to movable heritage. The articles reflect only a small part of the achievements of those who work with passion and professionalism in the field of managing works of art.

Movable heritage is the vast domain that includes all transportable cultural assets, conceived as such from the moment of their creation.

The restoration of movable heritage requires, first and foremost, the existence of a professional specialist, followed by the necessary logistics—the workshop and the equipment required for such interventions.

As a complex undertaking, the restoration of works of art first requires research into the original material in order to establish an objective diagnosis, on the basis of which a scientific intervention methodology can be developed.

The articles presented demonstrate the completion of these preliminary stages, describing and illustrating the restoration procedures applied to the works. It is particularly noteworthy that, in all cases, the decisions made by the restorers are supported and justified according to scientific restoration principles.
