Case din București. Valoare prin restaurare

Abstract
After nearly 30 years during which destruction became the prevailing image of historic houses—whether through neglect or lack of cultural awareness—there has nevertheless emerged, albeit sporadically, a growing concern for their rediscovery and preservation.
This book is the result of the extensive experience of its authors, specialists involved in the research, conservation, and restoration of historic houses and monuments in Bucharest and beyond. It represents a natural endeavor to bring together valuable information for owners of restored houses, as well as for those who wish to dedicate themselves to the study and preservation of historic homes in the future.
The volume is structured in two parts: the first serves as an introduction to the techniques of construction and conservation of historic houses—including architecture, decorative elements, and mural paintings—while the second presents concrete restoration examples: Arthur Verona 19, Dionisie Lupu 33, Romulus 77, and Muzelor 24.
Each house is historically documented through archival sources; each tells the story of its passage through time and of the extensive, recently completed process of recovery and restoration that brought it back to life.
