Despre patrimoniu. Ghid educativ pentru copii
Colectiv ACS
Abstract
Continuing the educational initiative launched by the Art Conservation Support Association (ACS) within the “About Restoration” programme, the volume About Heritage. Educational Guide for Children offers an accessible and coherent introduction to the world of cultural heritage, addressed to young audiences. The publication is part of a series of educational materials developed in 2016, designed to bring children closer to historic monuments and provide them with the tools needed to understand their value.
The guide expands the perspective from the act of restoration to the broader concept of heritage, explaining in clear, age-appropriate language what historic monuments are, how architectural and artistic ensembles function, and why they must be protected and passed on to future generations. It introduces basic notions about churches, mural painting, icons, and architecture, as well as the role of conservation in preserving cultural memory.
The publication encourages an active form of visual education, inviting children to observe, compare, and understand the built and artistic environment around them, moving beyond simple visits to monuments and fostering a conscious relationship with heritage.
In this way, the guide is part of ACS’s strategy of early cultural education, complementary to its scientific restoration activity, and supports the idea of an open dialogue between specialists and young audiences in the spirit of long-term heritage protection.
