Patrimoniu recuperat. Vitralii din Banat. Secolele XIX-XX
Angela Horvath
Abstract
Stained glass is an integral part of the monuments that house it. Its loss would result in an incomplete representation of the ensemble. For this reason, it must be studied in order to be properly understood and appropriately treated. Understanding a heritage object is the first step toward its conservation—a step that can be taken by anyone who respects cultural values. Comprehending the execution techniques, the state of preservation, and methodological aspects means delving into the depth of the restoration profession, revealing details useful to any dedicated specialist.
The book proposes, on the one hand, an inventory and study of the stained glass preserved in the historical Banat region, addressing iconographic, technical, and conservation aspects, as well as information about the artists, styles, and workshops of origin. On the other hand, it presents specific methodologies for conservation and restoration interventions, based on the author’s 20 years of experience in this field.
